Silica Sol YGS


Colloidal silica or silica sol is a stable dispersion of solid silica particles on liquid. If the liquid is water, the dispersion is known as aquasol or hydrosol. If the liquid is an organic solvent, the dispersion called an organosol.

Hydrosol can be manufactured by various methods such as electrodialysis, peptization, neutralization, ion-exchange, etc. These colloidal silica products are from sodium silicate solution. Sodium silicate solution is the most typical water glass and it contains sodium as a main ingredient, as well as silica. For manufacturing colloidal silica, the sodium ingredient needs to be removed and plenty of contaminated water occurs in this process. Silica in sodium silicate solution is not all momometic but mixture of various types, monomeric and polymeric silica ion and colloidal silica ion micelles. So the colloidal silica particle grown from sodium silicate solution is less round and discrete.

YOUNG IL Green Sol "YGS" is produced by oxidizing high purity silicon directly. The technologies are protected by the patents. Silicon is black grey solid. YGS from Si contains less metal impurities than colloidal silica from sodium silicate solution and its manufacturing process is environmentally safe and economical. When silicon is oxidized in water, monomeric silicas occur first and the silica particles are growing by condensation reactions. Silica particles of YGS are round, and discrete and YGS is more stable.
